love languages - words of affirmation

#dating #relationships #lovelanguages

Ok so I think that is my main one and it makes me sound needy but I am really just sensitive in arguments. I know some people get along better than others but I am not one to just blurt out hurtful things. My ex was like that and it destroyed my confidence which took a full year to get back to myself.

I have been dating again and find that most people are not communicating well or accurately. It makes me feel a bit crazy and not sure if it is worth my energy. I also feel really mature for my age and dont feel like therapizing people right now.

Idk if this makes sense - I just want to hear more from other people who have that as a love language and how they make realtionships work...platonic or romantic.

Why aren't good men and women finding each other when dating?

#dating

Whenever anyone says that dating sucks nowadays, a lot of people agree with it, with both sides (men and women) struggling with different issues.

Men will talk about having a quantity issue, where we'll talk about getting nothing but constant rejection in spite of building ourselves up to be a person with a lot of attractive qualities.

Women talk about having a quality issue where they're always getting offers, but all these men are typically not very good for reasons that can include hygiene, dishonesty with intentions, etc.

The thing is that these 2 things are pretty contradictory, since a lot of women are talking about how the bar is the floor and having basic hygiene and manners puts you way above everyone else, and men are talking about how they've put in a ton of effort to way exceed the bar and still aren't getting anything.

Why are these 2 groups of people finding each other?

Is it weird if I (22m) want to spend my life with another guy

#dating

I’d like to say as of right now I identify as straight, and to this day I’ve only ever had sex with/ and interest in women. But I have a close friend since second grade, who is gay, who’s been there for me at my lowest.

When I was close to overdosing after a breakup I had with a girl, he made sure to make time to stay with me just to make sure I was ok, and even tried to cheer me up ab the whole thing. This was on multiple occasions during my lowest drug addiction as well. He makes time whenever he can to cheer me up at any low point I have.

I made the firm decision that he’s someone that I want to live with more than any woman, despite me being straight. Is that unusual in any way?

I was dating this girl and I feel like I might have ended it too soon

#dating

So this girl and I have been talking for over a month now and I have really been enjoying it. They do remind me of my ex a lot but I am navigating that just fine. Well recently they basically told me that I am "a lot" and my ex said the same thing. I started crying (unexpectedly) and was like let's just end this. She did not want to but I was like let's just not hurt each other any more than we already have because she does compare me to her ex too (not necessarily in a good way).

I am proud of myself for ending it though bc i wish i ended things with my ex earlier. But I know this girl is not my ex and not great at her words so did I end it too soon?

Am I being unreasonable for feeling undesired by my girlfriend?

#sex #relationships

Once a week sex turned into once a month and just earlier this month we had a short getaway. Sex happened but after two months of not having any, it felt like I wasnt missed or desired at all. Now she wants even more space and time alone, and I am okay with that. It is just that I am starting to feel like I am just the mercy of whenever she wants sex and I have to wait around and just be grateful.

Am I her best friend or am I being emotionally manipulated?

#dating

A couple weeks ago, we hooked up again which she initiated... then she started dating someone else (not particularly casually). I feel hurt but I am also cognizant of her telling me multiple times that she wasnt ready for a relationship. We still also spend about 400% more time together than she does with her gf. My friends are livid with her adn insist I'm being manipulated and gaslighted. I am confused and hurt and feel stuck. I know the answer is going to be me setting boundaries and also i feel like I am at risk of losing a deep connection  - thoughts?

My partner and I arent having sex - how can I still foster intimacy?

#sex #dating

For the first year and change, I was totally fine - I am busy enough adn have enough in the way of toys and the like to take care of myself, but recently I have noticed myself becoming quite sad? Recently they kissed me like they used to and i nearly started crying in our kitchen. I think I might miss the intimacy that comes with sex  even if I am okay without the act itself. I dont want to ask them to do anything they dont want to do, and I know it is something they're sensitive about so my question is: how do I talk about this with them? Do I talk about this with them at all?

my gf doesnt want to have sex

#sex

this hiatus from sex has really revealed to me that I find a lot of affirmation about being desired through even just kissing - so not doing much of that has left me feeling like maybe she doesnt ever want to have sex and in some ways that feels like my fault. Anyway, would love any input about how to talk to her about this and whether or not I even should? I just want to have sex with my gf but obviously dont want to force anything

How do I stop bringing baggage from my last relationship into my new one?

#newrelationship #dating #single

I have been feeling so insecure and needy even though i genuinely have a great new partner that I am wondering if this is even worth it. If i can even handle it. I overthink every text, feel abandoned if they dont reach out all the time. I am also worried if I tell them what is going through my mind they will run for the hills because it is not for them to deal with the consequences of my ex's behavior.  Am I really ready? Should I be honest with myself and take more time to heal even though i really want to experience this relationship?
